Monday Movie: The Seventh Seal

"You drew black."
"Appropriate, don't you think?"

Ingmar Bergman's The Seventh Seal has a reputation as the quintessential art-house movie: turgid and obscure. But I actually find it quite a snappy film to watch: only ninety minutes long, and with a mood that oscillates perfectly between dark foreboding, observant wit and outright comic relief.

Mmmm. (Shivers).
Never seen it. I've seen Bill and Ted, though. :-)

I haven't seen this in years...it was a great film. I'm going to have to hunt it down...

I always thought it was suspicious how good films were always presented to a wider public as boring, whereas a three hour roller coaster of cliches as exciting movie making. Anyway. Weekend FTW!
